About the role

This role supports the business development and administrative initiatives of Mayer Brown’s Global Industry Program, a strategic priority of the Firm. The Specialist will focus on the financial institutions and private investment funds industries, working closely with the Global Business Development and Marketing team to advance marketing, business development, and client development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with industry group leaders and BD leads to support marketing, business development, and client development initiatives.
  • Build deep knowledge of assigned industries, including client environments, market trends, and competitive landscapes.
  • Support the execution of industry-specific BD plans and cross-practice initiatives, tracking progress and identifying opportunities.
  • Assist business development team members and lawyers in executing business plans and client strategies, tracking implementation and progress.
  • Communicate successes of assigned groups internally, as well as best practices and group activities to ensure coordination across Business Development & Marketing teams and offices.
  • Support thought leadership publications and offerings, including project management and mining data for business-development opportunities.
  • Plan and execute direct marketing and business development programs, including podcasts, video recordings, seminars, sponsorships, and other events.
  • Draft and manage industry-focused submissions to directories such as Chambers and The Legal 500.
  • Support initiatives related to research, data collection and analysis, directory submissions, matter coding, economic reporting, intranet site development and maintenance, and internal meeting support.
  • Leverage the Firm’s CRM database (InterAction) for business development purposes.
  • Assist with cross-practice proposals and panel submissions.
  • Develop and maintain group-specific marketing content, including brochures, PowerPoint presentations, website/blog content, social media posts, and biographies.
  • Provide local office support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as marketing, communications, English, or another discipline requiring analytical and advanced writing and research skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in a business development, marketing, and/or research-related position in the professional services arena (e.g., law, accounting, or consulting), with a preference for law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency with scheduling and participating in video conferences in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with accepted research techniques and databases typically used for competitive intelligence in a professional services company (e.g., Manzama, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, LexisNexis, Lexology).

Physical Requirements

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • May require travel to other offices as needed.

Pay

The typical pay scale for this position is between USD $91,000.00/Yr. and USD $121,000.00/Yr., although the actual wage or salary may vary based on the candidate's education, experience, skills, and internal pay alignment.
