About the role

Deputies in the Special Prosecutions Section are experienced criminal trial attorneys who work independently in the prosecution of complex, multi-jurisdictional criminal cases including various forms of fraud, AB 1506 officer-involved fatal shooting incidents, tax evasion and underground economy violations, human trafficking, organized retail theft, fentanyl trafficking, and political corruption.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with teams of legal, auditing, and law enforcement professionals and handle every stage of investigation and prosecution from referral to jury trial.
  • May be tasked to assist multiagency task forces, such as the Tax Recovery in the Underground Economy (TRUE) task force, and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Travel to fully participate in investigations and prosecutions in multiple jurisdictions as well as participate in on-call rotations for response to officer-involved shootings.

Qualifications

  • Experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional criminal cases.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with teams of legal, auditing, and law enforcement professionals.
  • Knowledge of various forms of fraud, AB 1506 officer-involved fatal shooting incidents, tax evasion and underground economy violations, human trafficking, organized retail theft, fentanyl trafficking, and political corruption.
  • Ability to travel and participate in on-call rotations for response to officer-involved shootings.

Pay

The starting salary for each classification is as follows:

  • DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL IV: $11,993.00 - $16,096.00
  • DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL III: $10,852.00 - $15,325.00
  • DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL V: $12,659.00 - $16,883.00
