Empire State University is seeking a Special Projects Clinical Coordinator to oversee components of its teacher preparation programs and recruitment in New York City. This role supports clinical experiences within initial teacher preparation programs, with a focus on residencies, and builds recruiting infrastructure and workforce pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Recruit prospective students into undergraduate and graduate education degree programs through targeted outreach and engagement efforts, with a focus on residency models for MAT programs.
- Partner with the marketing team to develop targeted materials and messaging for teacher residency placements in NYC schools.
- Conduct outreach to schools in the NYC metro region for recruitment and concierge modeling for student pathways to degree, emphasizing paraprofessional scale-up and workforce development models:
- Meet with school leadership to identify workforce gaps and determine where Empire can provide educational supports.
- Support the establishment of registered apprenticeship programs in collaboration with educational partners (ANEW), school districts, and relevant state agencies.
- Build and strengthen teacher preparation pipelines by collaborating with College in the High School programs, faculty, and educational partners.
- Foster relationships with local education agencies (LEAs), school districts, and community organizations to expand program opportunities and student pathways.
- Design and implement outreach initiatives to increase awareness of educator preparation programs among prospective students and community stakeholders.
- Advise and support prospective and current students regarding program requirements, career pathways, and available educational opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to identify workforce needs and align recruitment and pipeline development strategies.
- Represent the institution at recruitment events, educational conferences, school visits, and community engagement activities.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on recruitment, apprenticeship, and pipeline development efforts to support continuous program improvement and growth.
- Provide onsite supervision for ESTR students:
- Communicate with students regularly and address questions and concerns related to clinical placements.
- Collaborate with the CSL office to identify the number of field supervisors needed and provide requested information to initiate hiring.
- Support the use of technology related to clinical supervision as appropriate.
- Participate in program meetings related to teacher residency recruitment and support.
- Develop and participate in webinars for both students and staff related to clinical practices and procedures.
- Provide weekly office hours for student questions and concerns.
- Provide information related to student questions regarding clinical placements and requirements.
- Interpret state regulations and communicate that information effectively to students, faculty, and others across the university through multiple modes of communication, including webinars, presentations, on-site meetings, and email.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders across NYC to facilitate meaningful clinical experiences in diverse settings and seek out recruitment opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Excellent and effective communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working in Pre-K through 12 or higher education settings.
- Ability to work within a collaborative environment with diverse populations.
- Ability to read and interpret SUNY and NYSED Guidelines and Regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in education or related field.
- Experience with NYS Certification and Licensure processes.
- Experience working with higher education faculty and staff.
- Experience working with external partners.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Special Information
- This is a full-time, grant-funded, temporary professional staff appointment based in New York City. Continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.
- May require occasional evening and/or weekend obligations in accordance with student and university needs.
- Travel is required to fulfill department and university-wide commitments.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
Pay
Senior Staff Assistant, SL3 / $80,000.
