Summary

Performs invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures and is responsible for the operation and quality assurance of film processing, patient monitoring, and x-ray equipment. Assists as a scrub, float, and imaging technologist.

Major Job Functions

  • Demonstrates competency and efficiency in the treatment, care, and interaction with all patients to include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Operates and maintains equipment, including fully competent in the technical operation of equipment.
  • Serves as a liaison between the floor nurse, unit secretary, and attending physicians regarding orders, procedures, scheduling, and other related questions or concerns.
  • Affirms the patient, reviews the chart for orders and lab results, loads pertinent prior imaging, and ensures completion of Radiant in Epic. Communicates with the Interventionalist about the availability of all above.
  • Prepares the patient for their procedure, answers questions within their scope of practice, and directs other questions to the Interventionalist.
  • Maintains a safe environment, including radiation exposure, contrast administration, and infection control guidelines/Universal precautions.
  • Maintains accurate records of patient care.
  • Ensures proper patient billing for services by adding charges, beginning, and ending each procedure in the computer system.
  • Maintains professional growth through ongoing learning of procedures, equipment, and techniques, including annual mandatory hospital training.
  • Maintains exceptional guest relations with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and medical staff, using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you).
  • Participates in the clinical education of student technologists.
  • Maintains quality of care by monitoring exams and participating in performance improvement projects.
  • Works towards meeting patient satisfaction goals by providing quality care, explaining procedures, and performing procedures in a timely manner.
  • Promotes teamwork within the department by assisting in all areas and using effective communication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) required.
  • Cardiovascular Interventional (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI) registry required.
  • One year of work experience required.

  • Demonstrates good patient care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups.
  • Experienced in the treatment of and interacts effectively with patients of all ages to include newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Physical Requirements

  • Good hearing, ability to communicate orally, visual acuity, motor coordination, and manual dexterity.
  • Good physical and mental stamina to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to assume awkward positions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and lift 100 lbs with frequent lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Wears lead-lined apron for extended periods of time.
  • Requires moving of equipment and patients, exposure to radiation, and patient contact.
  • Subject to occupational exposure to include skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parental contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
