Responsibilities

  • Responsible for diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of blood vessels to aid physician in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Operates fluoroscope to aid physician in viewing image of the guide wire or catheter through blood vessel to area of interest.
  • Fills automatic injector with contrast media, sets flow rate, and activates injection of contrast media into blood vessels of patient, as directed by physician.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness. Always practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
  • Monitors video display of area of interest and adjusts density and contrast to obtain optimum exposure and starts filming sequence.
  • Assures that sterile or non-sterile supplies such as contrast materials, catheters or other required equipment, are present and in working order or requisition materials.
  • Ensures efficient workflow in Special Procedures Department by getting patients started on time and keeping room turnaround time to a minimum.
  • Responsible for the proper use of the computer system (scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges).
  • Understands and follows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all job tasks.
  • May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Integrates current scientific knowledge and technology into their work practices, plays an active role in the orientation and training of new employees and students and participates in continuing education provided to the department during work hours.
  • Participates in and completes their Job Skills/Competency Checklist.
  • Maintains an atmosphere of professionalism, communicates technical and general information to, as well as, displays consideration to peers, medical personnel, and customers in a professional manner and promotes a positive image in daily and professional activities.
  • Maintains a clean, stocked, orderly work area.
  • Facilitates and participates in current and future Radiology Department CQI monitoring and implements changes accordingly.

  • Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community.
  • Reports any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate / GED
  • No Travel Required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date (ARRT-R)
  • Radiography (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
