Special Needs Childcare Technician
About the role
I live in Wittenberg and am a 9‑year‑old boy. I have boundless energy and love to explore and play outside. I have a brand‑new puppy! I am a non‑verbal 7‑year‑old boy with an energetic personality! I am curious about my surroundings and like to explore. I enjoy coloring, playing outside and using electronics. I have Autism which makes me unique and wonderful all at the same time! After school care is needed for a delightful 7‑ and 9‑year‑old boy with Autism. This job is for someone who has a heart for children and wants to make a difference. Do you want to make an impact in a child’s life? Do you have a few hours per week to help with after‑school care and supervision?
Responsibilities
- Provide transportation from school to home
- Engage the child in activities of choice
- Provide supervision and a safe environment at all times
- Provide redirection as behavioral challenges arise
- Supervise snack time
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with autism or non‑verbal individuals
- A compassionate, patient and understanding attitude
- The ability to be proactive and remain calm in stressful situations
- Must have a current driver’s license and dependable transportation
- Must be reliable
- Must pass a background check prior to employment
Pay
$17.00 per hour
Schedule
3:00 pm – 6:30 pm Monday‑Friday (every other week). Pick up child from school and transport him to his home in Wittenberg.
