Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports students in small groups or 1:1
- Aid students with assignments, homework, projects
- Understand and adapt materials to help students learn
- Teach classroom rules and reinforce them
- Manage student behavior, implement strategies
- Develop social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors
- De-escalate student behaviors and seek support
- Reinforce Social Development Intervention (SDI) concepts
- Support students with transitions and activities
- Assist with personal hygiene needs like toileting, feeding, and dressing
- Support students with mobility and adaptive equipment
- Provide general clerical support for the ESS Team
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Create a supportive and positive learning environment
Required/Preferred Education
- High school degree or higher
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Two years/60 credit hours of higher education or passing an appropriate ADE assessment
Required/Preferred Experience
- Experience in special education
Required/Preferred Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An interest in reading great books
Physical Functions
- Standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements
- Bending, squatting, reaching
- May move or position equipment up to 15 pounds
