Special Education Teachers (High School)

About the role

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring Special Education teachers for its growing High School. Positions are available for High School Mathematics, High School ELA/English, and High School Science. The role follows a push‑in/pull‑out model, and candidates must hold TOH or TOSD Special Education certification. Your co‑certification should be in the subject you will teach; however, a K‑6 certificate paired with TOSD may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Special Education instruction using a push‑in/pull‑out delivery model.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.
• Receive career‑long coaching and professional development support from school leaders.
• Work with peers in professional learning communities (PLCs) to plan lessons and solve problems.
• Benefit from abundant planning periods during the school day.
• Implement a research‑based curriculum and supporting curricular materials.
• Use high‑quality formative assessments aligned with the curriculum to identify when students have not achieved mastery.
• Partner with full‑time reading and math specialists, counselors, and social workers to support students academically and non‑academically.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a New Jersey Department of Education CE, Limited CE, CEAS, or Standard Certificate in Special Education.

Qualifications

• TOH or TOSD Special Education certification is required.
• Co‑certification should be in the subject you will teach (Mathematics, ELA/English, or Science).
• A K‑6 certificate paired with TOSD may be considered for the co‑certification requirement.

Pay

• Base Salary for SY26/27: $70,000 – $100,000.
• Special Education Certified teachers are eligible for a $3,000 bonus.
• Certified Math teachers are eligible for a $7,500 bonus.
• Additional bonus, stipend, and raise opportunities are available.
