Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction, supports, and interventions aligned with student IEPs while collaborating with educators, service providers, families, and administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction and implement IEP accommodations and modifications
  • Monitor student progress and use data to guide instruction
  • Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive practices
  • Participate in IEP meetings and team consultations
  • Support behavior plans and communicate regularly with families
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must hold a valid Special Education License
  • Committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs

Classroom Settings Available

  • Inclusion Resource/Learning Center
  • Sub-Separate Classroom (ABA-Embedded)
  • Sub-Separate Classroom (Social-Emotional/Therapeutic)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
  • Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
