Job Responsibilities

Prepares lesson content and instructional activities to improve students’ content knowledge, mastery of skills, and to increase overall content knowledge.

Engages in best practices to deliver Special Education content – specific lessons and instruction to exceptional students at multiple education sites by means of established instructional delivery platforms, in the least restrictive environment in accordance with state and federal Special Education regulations, demonstrating technology proficiency in using district-endorsed instructional applications.

Establishes clear communication with students, site facilitators, and all personnel within the distance learning instructional delivery platform.

Advances the mission and vision of the School District and the Agency.

Displays professionalism and leadership by following established school, agency, state and federal policies and procedures.

Performs Other Related Job Duties As Required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in special education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience working with special needs children in an educational setting.
  • Must possess S.C. teacher certification in special education preferably in the area of multi-categorical.
  • Has knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Able to comprehend, interpret and apply regulations, procedures and related information.
  • Knowledge of the various disabilities encountered.
  • Knowledge of teaching and instruction techniques for children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of the principles of planning and implementing individualized education plans.
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of the age group assigned.
  • Limited overnight travel.
