Key Responsibilities

  • Develop classroom schedules & implement daily academic lesson plan
  • Plan activities for school vacations & summer school recreational programming
  • Assist in writing & implementing school curriculum
  • Write & implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Design & implement pre-vocational & vocational curriculum within the daily schedule
  • Understand & implement the school behavior management program
  • Design & implement individualized & group behavior management plans
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, & supervision
  • Maintain knowledge of MCAS testing requirements, including accommodations & alternative assessment portfolios
  • Gather MCAS documentation & create portfolios for spring submission
  • Track student progress, complete semi-annual report cards, & prepare annual student transcripts
  • Complete weekly, quarterly, & annual reports
  • Maintain & organize classroom supplies & equipment
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including occasional emergency responsibilities related to the role

Requirements

  • Must exhibit ambulatory ability sufficient to physically intervene in instances of extreme behavior that might jeopardize the safety of students & staff
  • Basic computer skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor\'s degree in special education, education, or a related field required

\$54,540 - \$71,000 Annually, Depending On Certification & Experience

Sign-On Bonus

Latham Centers offers a Sign-On bonus for Special Education Teachers:

  • Licensed Special Education Teacher - \$5,000 Sign-On Bonus (\$1,000 after successful completion of orientation; \$2,000 after 120 days; \$2,000 after 180 days)
  • Non-Licensed Special Education Teacher - \$2,500 Sign-On Bonus (\$500 after successful completion of orientation; \$1,000 after 120 days; \$1,000 after 180 days)
