Special Education Teacher (Pre-K), Itinerant (Early Childhood Assessment Team location)

About the role

New Haven Public Schools seeks a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Comprehensive Grades Pre-K-12 Certification (065), 112, 113 and must be able to maintain a Special Education certification as required by Connecticut State Statutes.

Responsibilities

• Teach students with diverse needs in a variety of settings within the district.
• Collaborate with other educators, parents, and specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices in special education.

Requirements

• Valid Connecticut Special Education certification.
• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• At least one year of teaching experience in a special education setting.

Skills

• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in using assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
• Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay

The salary for the 26-27 School Year ranges from $53,220 to $108,047, contingent upon degree and years of experience.
