Special Education Teacher - Mountainside

About the role

The current hiring range for this position is $60,587-$90,000 based on years of experience. As a Special Education Teacher at the Bancroft School-Mountainside, you will design individualized student goals using a wealth of curriculum and clinical resources.

Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, and implement an instructional lesson plan aligned with NJ Student Learning Standards in all core subjects.
• Make appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with multiple disabilities.
• Assess students' individual abilities and create customized lesson plans.
• Address specific Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and encourage skill-building.
• Review IEPs to ensure goals are appropriate and recommend modifications.
• Provide training for parents, in the classroom, and at home.
• Communicate with students, families, and guardians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Eligible for teaching certification, such as “NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities” or “Teacher of the Handicapped.”
• Eligible for highly-qualified Teacher status.
• Effective teaching, facilitation, and communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience teaching Special Education.
• Knowledge of teaching methods designed for students with learning, physical, and behavior disabilities.
