Special Education Teacher (Long-term Substitute, Grade 3, 2026-27)
Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) opened in 2001 as a 700-student K-6 school. Today, it serves approximately 2,300 students across three buildings (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools) from 19 districts in Western New York.
About the role
The CSAT teacher communicates knowledge to students using varied instructional methods and curriculum resources. As a team member, you will share planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching duties. Responsibilities include assessing students, communicating progress to parents, and integrating technology into teaching and professional activities.
Responsibilities
- Implement school and district policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the team on curriculum and student needs.
- Create and maintain ongoing communication with parents.
- Develop and implement curriculum, integrating technology into instruction.
- Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers in areas of expertise.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Establish student-directed classrooms for independent and group work.
- Develop and use rubrics for instruction and assessment.
- Create and manage a responsive, safe, and creative learning environment.
- Write, implement, and evaluate personal professional development plans.
- Foster family-school relationships to support academic and social development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with completed student teaching experiences.
- At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating.
- Three positive professional recommendations.
- Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills.
- Highly organized, independent worker with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Qualifications
Required certification: Special Education {9010} or Childhood Education Grades 1-6 {3014}.
Pay
Per diem rate: $200 per day (certified), $180 per day (non-certified).
Schedule
Long-term substitute position for the 2026-27 school year. Full-time, temporary role starting as soon as possible.
