Requirements
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Special Education (Grades 6–12) in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education guidelines (Bulletin 746).
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Special Education or a related field.
- 2+ years of teaching experience in special education is frequently preferred.
Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of Louisiana Student Standards and the ability to adapt general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation, accommodations, and modifications.
Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Effective classroom management.
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to use data-driven instruction to support individual student growth.
