Special Education Teacher (Birth-2)

About the role

Department Gateway Longview's Education programs support Pre-K through 12th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.

Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively manage a 6:1:1 specialized classroom
• Engage students in activities that are interesting, meaningful, and individualized to reflect each student's developmental level
• Effectively incorporate support staff into the classroom program
• Develop Individualized Education Plans ("IEPs") in accordance with current New York State Education and Gateway practice, procedures, and policies
• Fulfill other duties as assigned

Requirements

• New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education (B-2)
• Able to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening
• Able to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles
• Ability to physically restrain if required

Qualifications

• New York State Certification in Special Education (B-2) preferred

Pay

$47,256 - $60,879 (yearly)

Offers based on education and years of relevant experience
