About the role

The Center for Disability Services offers hope, innovation, and achievement to the people we support. For 80 years, we have been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities. This full-time Special Education Teacher position is within our Glenville Clover Patch preschool program in Glenville, NY. Full-time hires are eligible for up to $6,000 in incentive payments, subject to the terms of the program, including continued active employment and good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating goals and objectives from all disciplines of each student's IEP.
  • Implement and monitor behavior and classroom management plans and techniques when necessary.
  • Develop and adhere to an established daily schedule, making modifications as required.
  • Maintain communication with the classroom team, parents, and program directors regarding students' performance.
  • Reinforce appropriate student behavior by utilizing progressive discipline techniques.
  • Establish, communicate, and monitor clear expectations for both students and classroom staff.

Requirements

  • Initial NYS Certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities (Birth – Grade 2) or Permanent Special Education certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
  • Individuals without a Master’s degree must demonstrate plans to obtain one within a five-year timeframe.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently.

This position requires a Master’s degree; however, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may be hired initially, as New York State allows individuals with an Initial Certification to teach while completing their Master’s degree within a five-year timeframe.

Pay

Compensation range: $48,656.37 - $59,276.00.
