Special Education Teacher

Position Summary

Sola Academy by Fusion, an ISBE-approved therapeutic day school, seeks a Special Education Teacher to provide a student-centered, supportive classroom environment that promotes compassion, tolerance, emotional security, resourcefulness, and independent critical thinking. The position involves providing one-to-one and small group teaching experiences in English, Social Studies, Math, and Science (with Math and Science experience preferred).

What You'll Do

• Show evidence of adapting and differentiating instruction for all students and fostering a holistic growth environment.
• Maintain complete and accurate student and teacher records.
• Develop and maintain positive and consistent communication with parents and teachers.
• Contribute to and benefit from the campus community.
• Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement.
• In addition to subject matter tutoring and teaching, this position includes significant student mentoring.
• Perform other duties as assigned, such as tutoring part-time students.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
• Current Illinois PEL; LBS1 (Grades 6-12 must be covered in licensure)
• Outgoing, well-organized, competent in basic computer skills, and eager to work in a dynamic, energetic school setting
• Deep respect and understanding for teaching and learning
• Knowledge and expertise in educational resources and best practices for secondary students
• Extensive knowledge of mild to moderate disabilities
• Knowledge of designated instructional services (speech and language, occupational therapy, etc.)
• Creative solutions for struggling learners
• Proactive communication with leadership team and families of students with disabilities
• Desire and skills to collaborate successfully with teams of teachers
• Commitment to consistent self-improvement

Pay Range

USD $30.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
