Special Education Teacher
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provide quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. Commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.
Responsibilities
- Deliver special instruction and tutorial assistance to students
- Consult with general education staff on student programs
- Participate in team planning and implementation of early childhood special education programs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid NE teaching certificate with one of the following endorsements:
- Early childhood special education
- Early childhood inclusive
- Regular early childhood endorsement and K-6 special education endorsement (both required)
- Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment (preferred)
- State Teacher Certification in one of the following types (preferred):
- Standard Elementary Teaching
- Standard Secondary Teaching
- Standard Special Teaching
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement (preferred)
- Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable)
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
