BRICK currently operates schools in Newark, New Jersey, and Buffalo, New York. The BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School opened in August 2023 to a founding group of kindergarten and first grade students. As the school grows, BRICK is recruiting team members committed to proving what is possible for students and families on the East Side of Buffalo. As a member of the BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School team, you will play a critical role in building success for students, families, and the community.

About the role

BRICK Networks seeks to hire Special Education (SPED) teachers who passionately believe in BRICK's mission and have a deep desire to work with underserved Black and Brown students and families. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, uses data to drive instruction, collaborates effectively, implements feedback quickly, and approaches the work with humility. A BRICK Teacher maintains positive relationships with colleagues, students, and families, and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in working with Black and Brown students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and knowledge of best practices to support students of various socio-economic experiences.
• Create and maintain a positive, safe, and collaborative classroom environment.
• Strengthen classroom community by investing students and families in BRICK’s iDream values (Innovation, Diligence, Respect, Empathy, A+ Self Control, and Model Student), Core Values, Mission, and Vision.
• Execute network-adopted unit and lesson plans to accelerate student learning and social-emotional development, including appropriate accommodations, modifications, and acceleration.
• Attend and actively participate in all required meetings, including department, grade level, and staff meetings.
• Participate in regular meetings with a coach to support development, including observation, feedback, planning, and data meetings.
• Collaborate with coaches and peers to share best practices and build a strong adult culture.
• Utilize data from student observations, summative, and formative assessments to inform instruction.
• Adjust instruction to meet the unique needs of students, including differentiating for various learning styles.
• Teach and enforce school-wide systems and structures.
• Participate in whole-school events and home visits to build strong, trusting relationships with students and families.

• Prior experience working with children strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
• A valid teaching license/certification or an active pathway to acquire one (required).
• Ability to meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and "Highly Qualified" according to ESSA.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

Pay

Competitive compensation package based on experience, ranging from $45,000 to $90,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time, 11-month employment period.
