About the role

Aids in delivering educational services outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction while addressing the diverse needs of complex learners.
  • Implement and follow IEPs and PBSPs.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies throughout the day.
  • Assist with classroom setup, preparing materials for specialized instruction, and data collection.
  • Operate standard school equipment and follow the day-to-day schedule of students.
  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including maintaining a safe and structured environment.
  • Work closely with Special Education Teachers, BCBA, Clinicians, and school administration.

Qualifications

  • Three years of postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related field.
  • Required for Education Technician III certification and School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
  • Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Willingness to advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the general education setting.

Skills

  • Ability to follow complex educational and behavioral treatment plans.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
