About the role
Aids in delivering educational services outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSPs) within RISE/Day Treatment programs operated by Lewiston Public Schools.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small group instruction, addressing academic and social needs throughout the day.
- Implement and follow IEPs and PBSPs.
- Utilize de-escalation strategies throughout the day.
- Set up classroom and individual student areas, prepare materials for specialized instruction.
- Collect and enter relevant data.
- Assemble and hang materials on bulletin boards, keeping displays current.
- Operate standard school equipment such as computers, laminators, copiers, audiovisual equipment, etc.
- Follow the day-to-day schedule of students.
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and the school community.
- Provide instruction in RISE/DT classrooms under the guidance of Special Education Teachers.
Qualifications
- Three years of postsecondary education and/or 90 credit hours of approved study in a related field.
- Required for Education Technician III certification and School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification.
- Previous work experience in child care and/or education is preferred.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships and communicate clearly with students, staff, and the school community.
- Willingness to advocate for inclusion of RISE students within the general education setting.

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to follow district requirements and School Committee policies.
