About the role
The Lucia Mar Unified School District seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional II to assist students with disabilities in various settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with disabilities in academic, physical, and social skills.
- Operate audiovisual equipment and computers to support student learning.
- Implement academic instruction under the supervision of special education teachers.
- Support clerical duties such as photocopying and recordkeeping.
- Participate in staff, professional development, and team planning meetings.
- Perform specialized health care procedures as needed.
- Participate in non-violent crisis intervention and behavior intervention training.
- Assist in managing classroom behavior and implementing behavior programs.
- Participate in de-escalating potentially violent situations involving students.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Passing basic high school competency test.
- Ability to relate effectively with students with special needs.
- Valid California driver license.
Desirable Experience
- Involvement in youth activities.
- Knowledge and understanding of developmental stages of special needs students.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
