Position Summary
To assist the teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment. They will also assist in the preparation of instructional materials and the implementation of lesson plans. The paraprofessional will provide routine support, and all duties are performed under the direct supervision of the teacher.
About the Role
Essential Tasks And Responsibilities:
- Aid and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
- Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
- Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
- Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
- Aid in record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
- Afford classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions.
- Afford routine support in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas.
- Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.
- Construct, copy, and distribute educational materials as needed.
- Aid teachers with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
- Aid students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement if IEP objectives, etc.
- Participate in IEP process and serve as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed.
- Aid students with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
- Adhere to all policies of the District.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Other Responsibilities in CBI Settings
- Lifting and positioning of student.
- Changing clothes/diapers.
- Catheterization.
- Tube feedings.
- Oral feeding and food preparation.
- Oral suctioning.
- Tracheostomy care.
- Brushing of teeth.
- Monitoring and documenting seizures.
- Monthly cycle care.

- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others.

- Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed.

- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications
- Must have 60 college hours - OR - have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Exam.
- Successful completion of all background checks.
