Qualifications
- General knowledge of IEP and third party billing
- Thorough knowledge of behavior plans
- Thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and software
- Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, parents and elected officials
Essential Functions
- Follows student Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Makes sure students attend Special Education sessions and sensory breaks
- Makes sure students attend classwork throughout the day
- Monitors student schedules throughout the day
- Charts sensory breaks
- Makes sure students with medical conditions are monitored
- Administers minor First Aid when required
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds
- Pushes/pulls up to 90 pounds (wheelchairs)
- Regularly requires speaking or hearing
- Frequently requires standing, walking, sitting and using hands to move, handle or feel
- Occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting
- Requires close vision and distance vision
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound
- Work requires close observation of general surroundings and activities
- Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic)
Special Requirements
- To be considered Highly Qualified, you must have ONE of the following:
- A Bachelor's Degree
- An Associates Degree
- 60+ credits of post-secondary education
- A portfolio demonstrating MN Core Competencies for Paraprofessionals*
- A passing score on the ParaPro Exam*
Rate of Pay
$18.69/hour Per Union Contract (pre-settlement)
