Special Education Paraprofessional (Alexandria)

Position Details

Typical hours: 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., 6.75 hours/day
Workdays: 180 days/year, aligned with the school calendar

Key Responsibilities

• Support K–6 students in their learning, social, and emotional development
• Help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Aid in classroom instruction and behavioral support
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to create a positive, inclusive environment
• Receive on-the-job training and ongoing support

Required Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• One of the following:
• 60+ college credits
• Completed associate degree
• Passing score on the Paraeducator or ParaPro exam (can be completed after hire within 30 days)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with students with challenging behaviors
• A positive attitude, patience, and a passion for helping students succeed

Pay Range

$20.60 - $26.00 per hour depending on qualifications
