Special Education Paraeducator (Yaakoosge Daakahidi High School)

Full-time, 9-month (.9333 FTE) position at Yaakoosgé Daakahídi High School, district-wide.

About the role

Works primarily with students who are in special education. Presents material and activities to improve skills in assigned areas, which may include reading, writing, math, computers and/or vocational education. Works individually or in small groups. Records grades and other measures of students' progress and behavior.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Provide instructional assistance in assigned areas.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Operate a personal computer and related software.
• Maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and parents.
• Maintain files and records.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• AA degree, 48 semester hours, or willingness to take and pass the WorkKeys exam (support available).
• Valid Alaska driver’s license.
• CPR, first aid, and district-approved behavior-management techniques may be required.
• Some prior experience working with school-age children preferred.

Pay

Starting salary of $26.37 per hour for a 35-hour work week.
