About the role

Pleasant Green Elementary School is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Essential Elements) - Mild/Moderate (1.0 FTE).

Responsibilities

• Create a positive learning environment for students.
• Develop lesson plans and provide individualized and small group instruction.
• Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students.
• Use effective teaching techniques and technology in instruction.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment.
• Evaluate students' academic and social growth.
• Communicate with parents and colleagues.
• Implement Proficiency-Based Learning.
• Participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Administer standardized tests and follow attendance policies.
• Model professional ethics and demonstrate positive role modeling.

Requirements

• Valid Utah Special Education teaching license or equivalent.
• At least a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and the Granite Way.
• Ability to work independently and manage classroom behavior.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting and moving supplies.

Qualifications

• Experience with Proficiency-Based Learning.
• Knowledge of the USBE's Core Curriculum.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

Skills

• Proficiency in using educational technology.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse student needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
