About the role

The Robert Frost Elementary School is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the Mild/Moderate endorsement. The position is 1.0 FTE and starts with the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive learning environment for students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning skills.
  • Motivate students to acquire the necessary skills, attitudes, and knowledge for future education and success.
  • Adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Utilize effective teaching techniques and technology to enhance student learning.
  • Supervise students in various settings, including indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth and maintain appropriate records.
  • Communicate with parents through various means to discuss student progress.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to support students' personal and academic growth.
  • Implement Proficiency-Based Learning and the Granite Way.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional competence.

Requirements

  • Hold a Utah Special Education teaching license, an out-of-state Special Education teaching license, or be enrolled in an approved in-state Special Education program.
  • Have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university and be eligible for an Associate Educator License through the Utah State Board of Education.
  • Meet or be willing to meet the Utah Science of Reading Requirement (S.B. 241).

  • Effective computer and educational technological skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Establish and maintain a positive learning environment and handle classroom management issues calmly.
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using computers and other technological classroom support equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
  • Knowledge of the Utah Science of Reading Requirement (S.B. 241).
