Special Education Director

About the role

The Wiscasset School Department is seeking a Special Education Director to lead and support PK–12 special education programming, ensuring compliance with IDEA, MUSER, Section 504, and state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support PK–12 special education programming.
• Oversee Child Find, referral, evaluation, eligibility, IEP development, and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA, MUSER, Section 504, and state regulations.
• Supervise and support special education staff and service providers.
• Manage special education budgets, grants, contracts, and reporting requirements.
• Foster collaborative relationships with families, community agencies, and sending/receiving programs.
• Support inclusive practices and continuous program improvement.

Qualifications

• Maine DOE Administrator of Special Education (030) certification.
• Minimum three years successful experience in special education.
• Master's degree preferred.
