Special Education Assistant position at Meeker Elementary School (two openings). Salary: $20.51 per hour plus benefits. Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley-Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $31.87 per hour plus benefits. Contract length: 182 days (2026-2027 school year).

About the Role

Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
  • Provide student-specific personal care and support.
  • Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, and sanitizing equipment and materials.
  • Ability to sit for long periods, respond quickly to student needs, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • AA degree or 48 semester hours, or passing scores on WorkKeys exam.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the position’s functions.
  • Ability to provide student-specific personal care support.
  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with children with special needs.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to move quickly in response to student needs.
  • Upper body strength with the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Desire to work in a team setting and maintain a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPI training (provided).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (provided).
  • Paraprofessional experience.
  • Bilingual skills.
