About the role
The Mid-Hudson Regional Partnership Center (RPC) at Dutchess BOCES is seeking a Staff Specialist to support school districts in improving outcomes for students with disabilities across a four-county region (Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess). This position is funded through a five-year NYSED/OSE approved grant. The Staff Specialist will provide targeted professional development on specially designed instruction and offer technical assistance to schools throughout the region.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate regional and in-district professional development on Specially Designed Instruction and other related topics as needed.
- Support training initiatives connected to special education, including the Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities.
- Provide modeling and coaching for teachers on instructional strategies, data collection, and reteaching practices to support student learning and skill development.
- Provide in-district support to Dutchess County educators, including teachers and administrators, as needed.
- Attend NYSED-sponsored trainings and other professional development opportunities across New York State.
- Collaborate with other RPC Staff Specialists to design, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies that support designated districts in building sustainable systems.
- Design, plan, and facilitate student enrichment activities such as conferences, debates, and related events.
Requirements
- Current New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education (required).
- SAS, SDA, SBL, or SDL certification (preferred).
- Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in K–12 as a special education teacher.
- Demonstrated experience providing professional development and collaborating with educators (preferred).
