About the role
The Instructional Design Specialist for Canvas for Continuing Education (CCE) in the College of Medicine (COM) applies professional experience and foundational instructional design knowledge to support the development and delivery of continuing education programs in collaboration and consultation with subject matter experts (SMEs). The position works under general guidance to support implementation of established instructional design processes, workflows, and program operations that increase learner engagement and improve learning outcomes for public-facing, professional learning content.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with SMEs to develop and manage eLearning modules, guided learnings, multimedia, and digital and print materials to support learning, scholarship, and professional development opportunities.
- Manage assigned projects and support communication across stakeholders.
- Support portfolio operations, including reporting and course catalog management.
- Provide tier 1 technical support and training to end users.
- Contribute feedback to support ongoing improvement of workflows and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Two years' relevant experience required.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in eLearning design, learning development, or teaching.
- Ability to translate traditional SME-led learning material to formats using electronic educational technologies preferred.
- Experience with eLearning software (e.g., Canvas, H5P, Adobe suite, Vyond) preferred.
- Experience in an academic medical center preferred.
