Spanish Teacher
Overview
Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Spanish Teacher to join our dynamic team. This position involves teaching Spanish language and culture to students, fostering their communication skills and cultural awareness. The ideal candidate will be passionate about language education and committed to helping students achieve fluency and appreciation for the Spanish-speaking world.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Instruction: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and national standards for Spanish language education. Teach Spanish language skills, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, across multiple proficiency levels.
- Cultural Enrichment: Integrate aspects of Spanish-speaking cultures into the curriculum to enhance students' linguistic and cultural understanding. Organize and lead cultural activities, events, and discussions that promote a greater appreciation and understanding of Spanish-speaking countries and their traditions.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student progress in acquiring Spanish language skills through formal and informal assessments. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to facilitate continuous language development.
- Student Engagement: Utilize various instructional techniques and multimedia resources to engage students and make learning Spanish interactive and enjoyable. Encourage active participation and use of Spanish in the classroom to maximize language immersion.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest teaching methodologies and resources for teaching Spanish. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay current with educational standards and innovations in language teaching.
- Parent and Community Communication: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program updates. Engage the school community in multicultural events and language learning opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field, Master's degree preferred
- Valid teaching certification in Spanish
- Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school or high school level
- Proficiency in Spanish and a deep understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
