About the role
Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house serving diverse neighborhoods in Queens. Founded in 1975, QCH offers a broad network of comprehensive services across 11 different neighborhoods, impacting individuals, families, and entire communities.
Responsibilities
- Match homebound older adults with volunteers in their community
- Create intergenerational relationships through social engagement
- Discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, go for short walks, and more
- Reduce isolation and loneliness among seniors in targeted areas
- Visit in person or make phone calls to older adults in designated Queens communities
Requirements
- Must be 18 years and over
- Willing to commit to 6 months of volunteerism
- A background check is required to participate

- Ability to communicate effectively with older adults
