Description
Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Central and Southeast Queens. We're currently in need of Spanish speaking volunteers to provide social engagement to Spanish speaking older adults in Queens!
The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Willing to visit in person or make phone calls to the Queens communities we serve. These areas include Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Glendale, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Jamaica, Hollis, St. Albans, The Rockaways and Broad Channel.
Requirements
- Must be 18 and over
- Open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism
- A background check is required to participate in the program
