Spanish Linguist (2026-0022)

Responsibilities

• Use native reading and writing skills and cultural expertise.
• Provide high-caliber Spanish to English and vice versa interpretation, translation, and transcription.
• Perform proofreading and quality control of final products.
• Provide Spanish conversational one-on-one support sessions as needed.
• Work independently, under no supervision.
• Able to work as part of a team and able to meet deadlines on short-notice.
• Work flexible hours Monday - Friday during normal business hours between 0700 and 1800 or as needed depending on the workflow in order to complete deadlines.
• Occasionally may be required to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.
• As needed, linguists may be asked to travel CONUS and OCONUS TDY'S opportunities to meet the office’s requirements, as needed.

Requirements

• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Interpretation and Translation.
• Interpretation between source and target languages.
• Translation into English and target language.
• Transcription into English and target language.
• Summarizing/Gisting while drawing upon linguistic or cultural expertise.
• Subject Matter Expertise in Religion and Culture, and Linguistics.

Prioritized Skills

• Translation Related Services.
• Summarizing/Gisting, Triage, Quality Control and Editing of language products.
• Consecutive note taking, public speaking.
• Workflow.
• Lexicographer.
• Human Language Technology (HLT), CAT tools (e.g., Lilt, MS Suite etc.).
• Terminology Management vetting, and sharing word or phrase translations with context specific meaning, e.g., software, medical or military terminology.
• Subject Matter Expertise in Counter-Proliferation, Counterterrorism, Legal/Law, Narcotics Regional Politics and Science and Technology.
• Professional translation and/or interpretation certifications obtained (e.g., ATA, FCICE, CHI/CMI, etc.).
