Spanish Lecturer
Position Summary
The University of Wisconsin–Platteville invites applications for a 9-month Lecturer position in Spanish within the Department of Humanities. Appointment percentage will be based on departmental needs. The position primarily supports in-person instruction on the Platteville, Wisconsin campus.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Spanish, primarily at the introductory and intermediate levels.
- Facilitate engaging, in-person language instruction using communicative and proficiency-oriented teaching methods.
- Evaluate and assess student learning and language proficiency.
- Maintain regular office hours and support student success.
- Contribute with languages colleagues on curriculum and student learning assessment, as needed.
- Support co-curricular activities that promote language learning and cultural engagement.
- Attend relevant trainings and professional development related to teaching.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, Spanish Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in Spanish language instruction.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Ability to teach introductory and intermediate Spanish language courses.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate education and student success.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
