Spanish Language Instructor, Grades 9-12; Full-time
About the role
The Spanish Language Instructor will join the Upper Division faculty at Stevenson School, a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school located in beautiful Central Coast California. The role includes teaching up to five sections of Spanish, providing feedback and grading, supporting student learning, acting as an advisor, and engaging with students through co-curricular activities.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to five sections of Spanish
- Provide feedback and/or grading of assessments and assignments in a timely manner
- Support student learning by incorporating a variety of pedagogical approaches
- Act as a competent, trusted, reliable and informed advisor to assigned group of students
- Enthusiastically engage with students through and meet expectations of assigned co-curricular activities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in or related to target language, master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of 3-years of previous teaching of world languages at a similar grade level
- Strong English language speaking and writing skills
- Experience with and a willingness to utilize T.P.R.S. and C.I. methods to foster language acquisition
- Ability to teach multiple grade levels on a daily basis
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Demonstrated confidence and aptitude with the use of instructional technology and computer assisted language learning and assessment tools such as STAMP and experience with or willingness to learn a learning management system such as Canvas
- Demonstrated participation in professional development opportunities to support excellence in the teaching of Spanish language
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with all members of the community
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of all aspects of information disseminated within or external to the school community
- Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable and inclusive school community

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $90,000 based on experience. In addition to competitive salary, Stevenson offers a substantial benefits package including generous retirement plan contributions, a menu of Anthem medical plans with generous premium coverage provided by the School, vision and dental group plans and support of ongoing professional development. Stevenson offers housing and fuel stipends for eligible employees. Lunch is provided on a daily basis when school is in session.
