Spanish Instructor
Culver Academies is a private boarding school enrolling students and employing faculty and staff from across the United States and around the world. About the role
Culver Academies seeks a full-time World Languages and Cultures faculty member to teach Spanish for the 2026/27 school year. The ideal candidate holds at least a BA in Spanish, with several years of secondary-level teaching experience preferred. Experience in a constructivist environment, proficiency-based curricula, and integrated performance assessments is strongly desired. Curriculum and level leadership opportunities may be available for qualified candidates.
Faculty teach all levels of language and culture from introductory to Advanced Placement within a 4 x 4 intensive block schedule, handling two sections at a time with an average student load of 32 per term. All faculty contribute to the school’s athletic or residential life programs based on personal interest and institutional needs.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Spanish and multilingual teams to design the student experience and foster belonging and inclusion in alignment with Culver’s Diversity Statement.
Responsibilities
- Teach all levels of Spanish, from introductory to Advanced Placement, in a 4 x 4 block schedule
- Teach two sections at a time with an average student load of 32 per term
- Collaborate with the Spanish team and multilingual faculty to design curriculum and student experiences
- Participate in a teaching and learning culture that emphasizes peer observation, curriculum development, and professional sharing
- Contribute to the school’s athletic or residential life programs
- Support and advance the school’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Qualifications
- BA in Spanish (required)
- Several years of secondary-level teaching experience (preferred)
- Experience teaching in a constructivist environment or designing proficiency-based curricula and integrated performance assessments
