Spacecraft Avionics Harness Technician

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate wire harnesses from assembly drawings and electrical schematics
  • Assemble electromechanical assemblies and assist engineering with the development of production processes for first time builds
  • Follow work instructions / assembly procedures and document work performed through MES system and other tools
  • Work side-by-side with design and manufacturing engineering in a fast-paced environment
  • Rout harnesses and support integration of electromechanical assemblies on the Mega-class satellite
  • Support production transition from engineering development and initial production to full rate production
  • Provide consistent process improvement feedback to engineering and production leadership

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in cable harness fabrication, assembly, or integration
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in aerospace or electronics
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, and shop floor management software
  • Demonstrate high level of ownership and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to set up and use a torque wrench and other hand tools such as: wrenches and safety wire pliers
  • Experience performing crimping, wire stripping, continuity testing, connector pin outs, routing, and tie wrapping
  • Experience using test and measuring tools (digital multimeter, caliper, micrometer)
  • Familiar with ERP and part traceability
  • Ability to adapt to changing work assignments under tight deadlines

Nice to Have

  • IPC Certified for PCB and cable harness rework (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620)
  • Hand soldering ability and PCB rework experience
  • Ability to read, review, and redline electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with various potting and encapsulation techniques for cables and enclosures
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate hardware and systems problems

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as bending or twisting, grasping, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, and use hands to operate tools or machine controls
  • Must be able to lift and carry parts or equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly pay range for this non-exempt role is $24– $35 + equity in the company
