About the role

The Space System Software Engineer, Lead role at Booz Allen involves leading a team in the development and maintenance of software solutions for space systems and missile defense systems. This includes ensuring the solution aligns with current and future system requirements and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the development and implementation of software solutions for space systems and missile defense systems.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to enhance the skills of team members.
  • Conduct reviews of complex systems in accordance with the System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process.
  • Design and implement systems architecture, requirements management, and technical baseline management processes.
  • Develop and maintain software-enabled products, addressing challenging problems and enhancing system performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet project timelines and quality standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading space system or missile defense systems software development teams in production.
  • Experience with weapon system requirements, design, and performance analysis for features such as engageability, interceptability, and lethality.
  • Experience with DevOps principles, including automated CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, infrastructure automation, and cloud monitoring technologies.
  • Experience with systems architecture, requirements management, and technical baseline management.
  • Experience providing technical leadership for a software development team and mentoring and supervising employees within a collaborative team environment to help them grow.
  • Experience with reviews of complex systems in accordance with the System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process.
  • Knowledge of Systems Modeling Language (SysML), DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Ability to effectively communicate, work independently and collaboratively on a cross-functional team, and demonstrate initiative to complete complex tasks to achieve program goals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Skills

  • Experience with strategic and operational-level missile defense planning, employment, and concepts of operations (Nice to Have).
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins (Nice to Have).
  • Experience with embedded programming and scripting languages such as Rust, C, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript (Nice to Have).
  • Experience developing software within an Agile framework and DevSecOps infrastructure as part of a CI/CD pipeline (Nice to Have).
  • Experience designing the architecture and containerized services with Kubernetes (Nice to Have).

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs. Individuals that do not meet the threshold are only eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits.
