Space System Software Engineer, Lead

About the role

This role is a lead full stack developer who leads a team in building software and systems from vision to production readiness. Key responsibilities include resolving problems with complete solutions, leading software development, and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

• Resolve problems with complete solutions in a fast, agile environment
• Lead a team in building software and systems from vision to production readiness
• Identify and implement system improvements
• Ensure the solution developed by the team considers current architecture and future functionality
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a collaborative team
• Participate in System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) processes
• Design and implement architecture and containerized services with Kubernetes

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience leading space system or missile defense systems software development teams in production
• Experience with weapon system requirements, design, and performance analysis
• Experience with DevOps principles, including automated CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, infrastructure automation, and cloud monitoring technologies
• Experience with systems architecture, requirements management, and technical baseline management
• Experience providing technical leadership for a software development team and mentoring and supervising employees
• Experience with reviews of complex systems in accordance with the SETR process
• Knowledge of SysML, DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Master’s degree preferred

Skills

• Strategic and operational-level missile defense planning, employment, and concepts of operations
• Implementing CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
• Embedded programming and scripting languages such as Rust, C, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript
• Developing software within an Agile framework and DevSecOps infrastructure as part of a CI/CD pipeline
• Designing the architecture and containerized services with Kubernetes

Pay

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $112,800 to $257,000 (annualized USD).

Schedule

Employees are expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, in alignment with leadership expectations and the needs of the role. They may also be required to work from or visit a customer facility.
