The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, while also providing technical support across the national space enterprise.

The Space Electromagnetic Warfare Systems Engineer role provides communication systems engineering expertise for the United States Space Force (USSF) Combat Forces Command (CFC) Mission Delta 3 Sustainment Squadron. This position will lead Mission Delta 3 in defining, acquiring, verifying, fielding, integrating, maintaining, and refining USSF space electromagnetic warfare (EW) warfighting capabilities while managing cost, schedule, technical performance, and risks. The role involves working with space EW systems such as the Counter Communications System (CCS), the Space Electromagnetic Warfare Operating Location (SEWOL), the Remote Modular Terminals (RMTs), and Bounty Hunter to support operational activities and influence future capability needs.

This position requires full-time, on-site work at our facility in El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a current and active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain access to SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to develop and deliver operational insights into Mission Delta 3 space EW systems.
  • Ensure Mission Delta 3 customers receive expert guidance in discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop handling strategies for space EW system risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Provide communication systems expertise through mission analyses, specification of requirements, architectural trades, interface requirements guidance, contractor design feedback, program risk assessments, system verification via testing and analysis, and fielding.
  • Collaborate with Mission Delta 3 members, government stakeholders, Aerospace, and other contractors.
  • Anticipate and respond to Mission Delta needs proactively.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in reports and briefings with government stakeholders and Aerospace management on plans, progress, and system details.
  • Share expertise and program knowledge to help develop other employees.

Requirements

Project Engineer – Communications Systems Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related STEM field.
  • 8+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the national security space mission area.
  • Ability to analyze satellite and ground communication systems, including interpreting and reviewing technical specifications and interface control documents.
  • Project development experience with the ability to lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Professional technical experience with communication systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, including potential OCONUS travel.
  • Current and active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain access to SAP.

Sr. Project Engineer – Communications Systems Engineering

  • 12+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the national security space mission area.
  • Proven ability to analyze satellite and ground communication systems, including interpreting and reviewing technical specifications and interface control documents.
  • Demonstrated project development experience with a proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.

Skills

It would be advantageous to have one or more of the following:

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related STEM field.
  • Expertise in space electromagnetic warfare.
  • Knowledge in fielding ground-based space communication systems.
  • Familiarity with testing and analyzing communication systems to verify requirements.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to elicit, document, peer review, and validate requirements for DoD system requirements documents and statements of work.
  • Skilled in working with electromagnetic warfare government stakeholders.
  • Background with Mission Delta 3 systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD acquisitions, information technologies, cybersecurity, or a combination of these fields.
  • Current or previous access to SAP.

Pay

The grade-based pay range for this job is $129,000.00 - $249,600.00 annually. Individual salaries within that range are determined by factors including education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
