Sovereign Finance Associate - Junior to Mid-Level
About the role
The Sovereign Finance team at Arnold & Porter advises sovereign governments, sub-sovereigns, state-owned enterprises, and international financial institutions on complex and innovative transactions in the global capital markets. The team represents issuers and other market participants in sovereign bond offerings, liability management transactions, derivatives transactions, financings, refinancings, and sovereign debt restructurings. They also advise on transactions and strategic assignments involving leading international financial institutions.
Responsibilities
- Advise sovereign governments, sub-sovereigns, state-owned enterprises, and international financial institutions on complex and innovative transactions in the global capital markets.
- Represent issuers and other market participants in sovereign bond offerings, liability management transactions, derivatives transactions, financings, refinancings, and sovereign debt restructurings.
- Advising on transactions and strategic assignments involving leading international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and IFC, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), European Investment Bank (EIB), CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, Caribbean Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and Green Climate Fund.
- Collaborate directly with clients and counterparties on sophisticated international transactions.
- Contribute to a dynamic, globally recognized practice.
Requirements
Candidates must be fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, have outstanding academic credentials, strong drafting and analytical skills, and experience with capital markets, finance, sovereign debt, project finance, or related cross-border transactional matters.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be eager to work on sophisticated international transactions, collaborate directly with clients and counterparties, and contribute to a dynamic, globally recognized practice.
Skills

Pay
The salary for this position is $225,000 - $310,000, commensurate with experience.
