Responsibilities
- Ensure all menu items meet exceptional standards for quality, flavor, and presentation by overseeing recipe adherence and maintaining consistent “model” plates for service.
- Provide daily operational leadership to culinary staff, ensuring teams are prepared, stations are properly set and reset, and service runs smoothly while proactively addressing challenges.
- Maintain full compliance with Pima County Health regulations by enforcing ServSafe standards, monitoring safety practices, and promptly reporting and resolving safety concerns.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Canyon Ranch’s nutrition philosophy, menu ingredients, and resort offerings to effectively support guest and staff inquiries.
- Prepare, present, and lead food demonstrations, special functions, and educational programs in the Demonstration Kitchen; collaborate with culinary leadership on seasonal programming and oversee demonstration-related revenue.
- Manage administrative and operational responsibilities including scheduling, colleague dining oversight, and ensuring proper food production, storage, and handling in alignment with Canyon Ranch standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a Sous Chef or comparable leadership role, ideally within a hospitality or wellness-focused environment.
- A passion for teaching and sharing culinary knowledge, with prior instructional or training experience preferred.
- A strong understanding of nutrition-forward cooking, proper food handling, and food safety best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to consistency and quality.
