SOUS CHEF
About the role
We’re seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our high-spec kitchen equipped with top-quality tools, including Rational iCombi ovens. You’ll work within an established, high-performing team, supporting catering for residents, service users, and numerous events. Our sociable working hours offer a strong work-life balance, and you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference through high-quality meals. Full training in Kosher kitchen practices is provided.
Our campus locations provide a great working environment, fostering a positive kitchen culture where staff feel valued and supported. Long-term team members collaborate closely, ensuring a well-established and cohesive team.
Schedule
- 35–40 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 (including some weekends)
- Shift options: 7:00 AM–2:30 PM or 11:30 AM–7:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Ensure all food produced meets agreed standards, incorporating market trends, cultural requirements, and Kashrut laws
- Monitor, maintain, and record food hygiene and health & safety practices in line with organizational policies and legislation
- Work within budget, administer unit controls, and implement cost-effective improvements
- Lead, motivate, and encourage team building to achieve qualitative outcomes and exceed customer service expectations
Requirements
- Previous experience in a busy kitchen environment, working both independently and within a team
- Appropriate supervisory experience and relevant qualifications in Food & Hygiene or Catering Services (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3)
- Energetic, passionate, and proactive attitude
- Ability to work to deadlines and adhere to budgetary requirements
- Understanding of the sensitivity needed to support vulnerable people
