Sous Chef
About the Role
Beztak Senior Living is seeking a Sous Chef to join our team of caring professionals. This role is responsible for preparing and assisting the Executive Chef with kitchen operations, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and ensuring the highest quality food products and service for our senior residents.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for residents.
- Assist the Executive Chef with overseeing daily kitchen operations.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with state, local, and regulatory agencies as they relate to Food Service.
- Manage the entire kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence.
- Ensure each piece of food is safe, prepared correctly, and tasty.
- Operate a company vehicle or personal vehicle for work-related purposes as needed.
- Work in a high-pressure environment, handling urgent matters, resolving conflicts, and interacting with customers/vendors.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in culinary arts or an equivalent combination of education and 2-3 years’ experience in food preparation.
- One to three years of related experience.
- Current ServSafe Manager Certification.

Background Check Process
Beztak completes pre-employment testing, including criminal background checks, fingerprinting (where applicable), drug testing, and additional state-specific requirements such as TB tests or clearance from Adult Protective Services registries.

Physical Demands
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and stooping throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds.
Work Environment
Frequently works in hot temperatures indoors, around sharp objects or tools.
