Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Supervision: Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and procedures. Lead, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to ensure a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction.
- Menu Execution & Innovation: Execute the menu to the Executive Chef’s standards and contribute to seasonal menu planning by bringing innovative ideas and seasonal inspiration.
- Inventory & Cost Management: Assist with inventory management, ordering, and waste reduction to control costs and maintain efficient kitchen operations. Control food costs and minimize waste to assist in budget management.
- Training & Development: Provide training for new hires and ongoing development for line cooks and other kitchen staff. Ensure that all team members are familiar with recipes, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Uphold health and safety standards to ensure a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Conduct regular inspections to maintain compliance with local health codes.
- Culinary Excellence: Be a role model for culinary excellence. Assist on the line as needed and step into various kitchen roles to maintain quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a high-volume, upscale kitchen setting, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
- Culinary Education: A degree from a culinary school is preferred but not required; extensive hands-on experience will be considered.
- Skills: Strong culinary skills, particularly in upscale or fine dining settings, with expertise in preparing and plating high-quality dishes. Solid understanding of kitchen operations and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership Abilities: Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team. A commitment to developing the culinary team and ensuring a positive, professional atmosphere.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to menu changes, seasonal ingredients, and evolving culinary trends, bringing fresh ideas to enhance the guest experience.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for detail to maintain presentation, portioning, and timing for a consistent and memorable dining experience.

Alma Nove is Hingham's premier waterfront restaurant inspired by a blend of flavors from Italy & the surrounding Mediterranean. Named after the Wahlberg family matriarch, Alma, & her nine (nove) children, the restaurant features an eclectic menu of antipasti, specialty pasta, fresh-off-the-boat seafood, & chops prepared on a wood-burning grill.
