Role Summary
The Sourcing Engineer Intern will support supplier identification, cost analysis, and procurement activities to strengthen our global supply chain. This role offers hands-on experience in sourcing processes and cross-functional collaboration.
Internship Details
- Location: Pune, India
- Duration: 3–6 months
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Research and Preliminary Capability Assessments: Conduct supplier research and perform initial capability assessments.
- RFQ Preparation, Quote Analysis, and Cost Benchmarking: Support the preparation of Request for Quotations (RFQs), analyze quotes, and conduct cost benchmarking.
- Supplier Communication, Documentation, and Follow Ups: Assist with communication, document requirements, and follow up on supplier activities.
- Sourcing Data Maintenance: Maintain sourcing data, reports, and ensure compliance records are accurate.
- Coordination with Teams: Coordinate with engineering, quality, and operations teams on sourcing tasks.
- RFQ Work Package Development: Prepare RFQ work packages that include drawings, conditions of supply, and other necessary details.
- Financial Data Analysis: Analyze financial data for comparison purposes, such as 'buy v buy' or 'make v buy', and develop technical expertise on machining/fabrications and other commodities.
- Technical Expertise: Gain technical expertise on machining/fabrications and other commodities, focusing on first pass yield and sustainability within the supply chain, working closely with the regional procurement team.
- Supplier Performance Control: Control supplier Quality, Compliance, Delivery, and Risk (QCR) performance.
- Efficient Prioritization: Work with minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering support, efficiently managing multiple program priorities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Commercial Sourcing, Business teams, and Engineering to eliminate roadblocks and improve communication.
Candidate Qualifications
- Pursuing a Degree: Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related engineering field
- Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills (English), proficiency in Excel/Sheets for interpreting basic engineering drawings, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Preferred Skills: Exposure to procurement or supply chain processes, familiarity with ERP systems and cost analysis concepts.
